Teeth in a day, also known as immediate load dental implants, places dental implants and a fixed bridge or denture on the same day. Instead of waiting months between implant placement and your new teeth, you can leave your appointment with a fixed denture.
How Does Teeth In A Day Work?
Planning starts with the same preparation as a traditional implant procedure, including CT scans, X-rays, and digital impressions, to make sure your new teeth will be placed correctly.
On the day of surgery, any teeth that cannot be saved are extracted and the implants are placed under local anesthetic. A temporary bridge or denture is then secured to the implants, so you leave with fixed teeth.
The temporary restoration supports the implants while they heal and integrate with the bone, which usually takes about three to four months. After that, your final restoration is placed.
Am I A Candidate For Teeth In A Day?
Not everyone is a candidate for teeth in a day. Ideal candidates have good overall oral health and meet these conditions:
- No infection at the extraction site
- Enough healthy bone to support the implants
- Implants that are stable in the bone as soon as they are placed
- Implants that can be placed exactly where the new teeth are planned
- Non-smokers, or patients willing to quit
What If I Am Not A Candidate?
If these conditions are not met, a delayed approach is usually more predictable. The implants are placed two to three months after extraction, or up to four months if bone grafting is needed. Patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes need a thorough evaluation by their dentist or oral surgeon to decide which approach is right for them.
Advantages Of Teeth In A Day
Fewer Appointments
Implant placement and your new teeth happen in the same visit, instead of across several separate appointments.
Fixed Teeth Right Away
You leave your appointment with a fixed denture instead of going without teeth while the implants heal.
Clearer Speech Sooner
Having teeth in place right away supports your lips and tongue, which helps you speak clearly while you heal.
